2024 California Distinguished School Award

In 2024, Stephens earned the 2024 California Distinguished School Award for exceptional gains in student achievement.

• Since 1986, when the program began, only 44 LBUSD schools have been recognized as Distinguished by the state of California.
• Of those 44, only two Westside schools have been recognized… until now.
• The last time a school on the Westside was recognized was in 2006.
• Eligibility is based on performance and progress on the state indicators as specified on the California School Dashboard.
